For some inexplicable reason, though, no one seems interested in buying a Dreamcast console alone. While you can't sell your old PSX, SNES, or N64 systems to GameStop or EB Games, you can sell the to Game Crazy for $4, $8, and $7, respectively. However, some of these consoles are still worth something, despite the fact that Best Buy might not be interested in them. In fact, the only one of these which will net any cash whatsoever seems to be a Dreamcast in excellent condition with seven (or more) games included: the resulting sale will net the owner $10.96. Strangely enough, even though one can trade in Playstation, N64, and Dreamcast consoles, it turns out that no money will actually be offered for the hardware alone. Apparently, though, some of the more obscure consoles, such as the Atari Flashback and XaviXPort systems are eligible for trade because of their relatively recent releases. Unfortunately, truly old consoles aren't even offered as a selectable option on the Best Buy service: even though the original Game Boy appears on the drop-down menu, neither hide nor hair can be seen of similarly-aged items like the Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, or TurboGrafx-16. Within a week, the seller should receive a Best Buy gift certificate in the mail. If the console owner agrees to the set amount, they are then taken to another portion of the website where they can print off a shipping label and then mail everything in to a facility which will examine the hardware before issuing a final tab. After selecting the aged console they wish to sell and the condition it's in (as well as what peripherals it would come with), the website will offer an estimated trade-in value. The trade-in service is actually operated by, a site which primarily handles auction management, logistics, and returns processing services and software for retailers. Currently, the outlet center does not offer any deals on video games or consoles, but it seems likely that such items will start making appearances soon because the trade-in website has an entire section devoted to gaming hardware. Members of the Best Buy Rewards Zone found an announcement in their inboxes this morning, officially heralding the existence of Best Buy's two new services: an outlet center and a trade-in service.
